Holiday destination
The holiday home is located on a hill. At the foot of the mountain opposite is the listed picturesque Cretan village DOULIANA. There are still small winding streets, the traditional Kafenion and family-run taverns, which are also gladly visited by locals from the area. It is idyllically surrounded by dry stone walls, olive groves and sheep herds.
Further in the mountain village GAVALOCHORI you can experience Cretan architecture live and in the museum.
3 km further is the traditional mountain village VAMOS.
There you will find mini markets, original taverns, cafes and a popular bakery where you can get fresh rolls in the morning. A very detailed tour information will be happy to inform you. A medical center is also located there.
The beautiful landscape of the Apokorona with its White Mountains, the Levka Ori, offer a breathtaking view. In some years, the mountains are snow-covered until May.
Nearby gorges invite you to go hiking, e.g. the Samaria, Imbros or Irini Gorge.
My new personal favorite is the Myli Gorge near Rethymnon.
KALYVES, a small lively town, 5 km away, attracts both locals and holidaymakers.
There are car rental companies, a local supermarket, mini-markets, bakeries, butchers, a post office, souvenir shops and a church.
The pretty bathing bay has a sandy beach.
Another popular seaside resort 6 km away is ALMYRIDA.
Small hotels have settled in a picturesque bay, whose bathers like to watch the hustle and bustle in the cafes and taverns. The gently sloping water is particularly suitable for smaller children.
A surf and diving school can also be found here.
The lively port city of CHANIA with its lively market hall invites you to stroll through the winding streets of the Alststadt. In many cases, there is still the traditional craft of the knife and scissor grinder or carpenter. Here you can also go shopping, e.g. in Ledergasse and the central market hall. Or you can visit museums and exhibitions. A lighthouse is the landmark of the Venetian-influenced city with its mansions. The Sarazen influence can also be discovered everywhere.
At the harbor you sit in cozy taverns and restaurants and enjoy the maritime atmosphere.
This is where the youth meet and this is where the nightlife takes place.
At the expressway exit you can shop at Lidl and Sklaventidis (formerly Carrefour).

Wir sind direkt im Olymp der Ferienhäuser gelandet. Selbst Zeus hätte seine Blitze beiseitegelegt, um hier ein paar entspannte Tage zu verbringen.
Der Pool, eine blaue Oase, Poseidon hätte persönlich applaudiert. Wir haben darin geplanscht wie kleine Wassernymphen, die Sonne genossen und dabei die traumhafte Aussicht auf Meer, Himmel und Berge bewundert.
Die Ausstattung des Hauses ließ keinen Wunsch offen. Es fühlte sich an, als hätte Hestia (die Göttin des häuslichen Glücks) hier persönlich eingerichtet.
Dieses Ferienhaus war für uns ein Ort zum Verlieben. Wir haben gelacht, gekocht, geplanscht und in den Sonnenuntergang geschaut.
Der Ort, an dem die Seele Urlaub macht und selbst die Götter neidisch werden, hier ist er. Kreta, du hast uns verzaubert!

Nun sind wir seit zwei Wochen wieder zu Hause und ich sehne mich immer noch zurück in die Villa Louisa. Wir hatten einen fantastischen Urlaub. Nachdem wir am Flughafen Chania unser Mietauto abgeholt haben, ging es los zu dieser tollen Unterkunft. Die Wegbeschreibung vom Flughafen war gut, allerdings muss man nach der Ölfabrik aufmerksam sein. Nach der Kurve mit den zwei Schildern geht es rechts einen steilen Weg hoch (ACHTUNG, wenn ihr ein etwas älteres Auto bekommt, macht die Klimaanlage aus und fahrt im 1. Gang hoch, sonst wird es schwierig). Als wir eingeparkt hatten, sind die Kids sofort losgerannt und kamen aus dem Staunen nicht mehr raus. Der Ausblick ist phänomenal!!!!! Alle waren sofort im Pool. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Danke an Susanne für die tolle Kommunikation. Wir vermissen Crete!
