Other recreational opportunities

For hiking enthusiasts, the island offers around 300 gorges to explore. Also cycling and aquatic sports are quite popular here. If you want to explore the coast from the water, you can rent a boat (a boat license is not required). Every year, sea turtles lay their eggs on the kilometre-long beach of Komos. Here, you have the unique opportunity to watch the little creatures leaving their nests and on their way to the open sea. The archaeological sites of Festos, Gortys, and Agia Triada are in the immediate vicinity and provide insight into the Minoan culture.

Holiday destination

Far away from mass tourism in the central south of Crete, the beach of Komos stretches for a length of about 4 km. The small beach town of Kalamaki with its cafés, bars, and restaurants can be reached on foot in just a few minutes. Pitsidia is about a 15-minute walk away and offers everything from cosy to upscale restaurants as well as vegan cuisine. There is something here for every taste. Kamilari is about 4 km away. Restaurants, cafés, and a unique cocktail bar can be found here. Other charming villages such as Sivas, Vori, and Kouses are in the immediate vicinity. Matala offers a lively nightlife and a wide range of restaurants and is about 6 km away.

Getting there

From Heraklion Airport (HER), you can reach the villa in about 1 hour by car. The journey from Chania Airport (CHQ) takes about 2 hours. A rental car is advantageous for the entire stay. However, transfer by taxi or bus is also possible.
