A particular highlight nearby is the Cultural Countryside Tour in Wendland, which is just 45 minutes from Bruchtorf and offers a fascinating mix of art, culture and crafts. This annual event invites you to discover open studios, exhibitions and diverse cultural performances in the charming villages of Wendland. The nearby Heidepark Soltau, the Serengeti Park or the Walsrode Bird Park are great places to visit with children.
There are great shopping opportunities in the town of Lüneburg and the Designer Outlet in Soltau.
Holiday destination
Bruchtorf near Jelmstorf, picturesquely situated close to the Lüneburg Heath, is an ideal starting point for nature lovers and active holidaymakers. Just 4 kilometres from the natural paradise of the heath, the popular Ilmenau cycle and hiking trail runs right through the village. After an eventful day in nature, the nearby Bad Bevensen, which is only a short drive away, offers ideal opportunities for relaxation. In addition to the well-known thermal spa facilities, the iodine brine bath (open all year round) and the rose bath (open from May to September) await you there.
There is also plenty of cultural variety: the historic old town of Lüneburg, just 25 kilometres away, invites you to take a stroll through the town. Or how about a trip to the Hanseatic city of Hamburg? This can be reached in around an hour's drive and offers sights such as the impressive Speicherstadt warehouse district, the lively harbour and the famous Elbphilharmonie concert hall.
Getting there
Travelling to Bruchtorf (29585) is easy both by car and by train. From the north, you can reach Bruchtorf via the A7 and A39 motorways, past Lüneburg, and continue on the B4. From the south, take the A7 and A39 motorways past Braunschweig and follow the B4 to Jelmstorf and then through the village into the Bruchtorf section.
If you are travelling by train, you can use the train stations in Uelzen and Bienenbüttel, both of which are well connected to the regional and national rail network. From there, Bruchtorf can be reached in a short time by taxi or public transport.
