Holiday destination
The over 700 year old Zinnowitz, with its 160-year resort lifestyle, is one of the most beautiful seaside resorts on the island of Usedom. At the start of the 20th century, hotels and guest houses in impressive architecture emerged that together with the spaciously laid out promenade resulted in a unique image.
Between the Baltic Sea and the Achterwasser, on one of the narrowest points of Usedom, the town is surrounded by beeche, oak and coniferous forests. The white, flat sloping sandy beach invites you for relaxation just as the amber thermal springs do with their 850 sq. m saltwater swimming area or go seafaring on the Baltic Sea or Achterwasser.
A diverse offering for wellness, culture, games, fun and sport make the stay in Zinnowitz an entertaining experience (www.zinnowitz.de) any time of the year. Away from the flow of visitors are both peninsulas Gnitz (north) and Lieper Winkel (south) that protrude into the Achterwasser. The hilly Achterland is an ideal hiking and excursion area ("Rother HIking GUide Usedom").
The cycling trail network on the island of Usedom is also well-developed. With over 1900 hours of sunshine annually, the island of Usedom is one of the sunniest islands.
Everything your heart desires can be found in Zinnowitz: club cinema, theatre (Blechbüchse), galleries, open-air theatres, tennis courts, mini golf, playground paradise for children on the beach promenade, amber thermal baths, restaurants, cafes and boutiques invite you to linger and browse.
In 1863 Theodor Fontane wrote about the island of Usedom in a letter to his wife: "...one has peace and fresh air and both these things fill nerves, heart and lungs with a satisfying bliss"
