But that is also what makes the place so attractive. If you want more hustle and bustle, it is a 20-minute walk to the neighboring town of Platanias, where there is a lively, ten-kilometer-long beach and plenty of entertainment options.

The typical villages of Pano Gerani, Manoliopoulou, Modi, Loutraki and also the mountain villages of Vatolako and Patelari give you an authentic impression of the local way of life with their orange and lemon groves. Day trips to the Elafonissi nature reserve with its flat sandy beaches or to the dune beaches of Falassarna in the west of Crete are also worthwhile.
