Talland Bay and its beaches is a 3 minute walk down the lane (or through the field with its magnificent view of the two dramatic headlands). It has sand, rock pools and safe bathing and an 8 minute walk up again!
This is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and Porthallow Lodge offers an ideal base to explore it along the coastal paths from Talland Bay with its unspoilt coves, rock pools and gently shelving beaches and safe bathing. Tucked behind the bay are two cafes, one of which does evening barbecues in the summer, and the other rents out kayaks.
Picturesque fishing villages of Looe and Polperro are nearby and the excellent restaurant of Talland Bay Hotel is a very short walk. The Eden Project is only 30 minutes drive away, as is famous Lanhydrock and other historic houses and gardens open most of the year.
Beautiful 13th Century Talland Church can be glimpsed across the valley from the cottage.
From Plymouth take A38 over Tamar Bridge signed Liskeard. After 10k turn left on roundabout and take A374 to Looe. Cross Looe Bridge and continue on road to Polperro for 4k. Turn left at small crossroads signed to Talland Bay Hotel. After 1.6k hotel is on left and Porthallow Lodge is on right. Post code is PL13 2JB.
