In Mirabel itself you can go biking, hiking, jogging, climbing.
Shopping, cafes, restaurants and nightlife can be found in the surrounding villages and towns (all worth a visit).
Go karting, canyoning, canoeing down the Ardèche and cultural activities (cinema, concerts, theatre, exhibits) can be found in the larger towns nearby: Aubenas, Montelimar, Vallon Pont d'arc, Vogüe.
A walk through the cave dwellings of the Huguenots about 10 km from Mirabel is also very popular.
The famous theatre festival in Avignon (In July) takes approximately 90 minutes by car. An internationally renowned documentary film festival takes place in August in the neighbouring village of Lussas (5 km).
A trip to the seaside takes about 2 - 2.5 hours by car each way (195 km).
Holiday destination
Mirabel is considered one of the most beautiful historic villages in France. The "Maison sous les roches" lies directly on the basalt rock of the high plateau, on which the ruins of a medieval castle are perched. From here you have a view of 2/3 of the département (region) and can enjoy wonderful walks around the Coiron. Spectacular sunsets, breathtaking landscapes, unbelievable play of colours, diverse flora and fauna - it was not for nothing that the village was a popular meeting place for artists.
Painters, musicians, actors and writers are all drawn to this inspiring setting.
Families with children love it as much as young explorers do.
Restaurants, bars, cafés, shopping and swimming facilities are available starting at a distance of 5 km (see map).
Hiking, cycling, swimming, fishing, canyoning or canoeing in the nearby Ardèche valley or simply a day's bathing at one of the nearby river bathing spots (see map) - the area offers more, rather than only the sea.
Shopping at colourful weekly markets (on some days also at night) - and cooking in the spacious kitchen-living room or simply on the terraces, surrounded by peace and beauty, reading, dreaming, painting, playing.
From the garden, where you can park, you also have a spectacular view of the valley.
Mirabel is not connected to public transport, so we recommend travelling by car. (car/ motorcycle + bike/ e-bike).
The best holiday season is from March to September. For hiking and sightseeing in spring and late autumn. Swimming weather June - Sept.
Getting there
By car, follow the Autoroute de Soleil until the Montelimar Nord exit. in the direction of Montélimar until L'Homme d'armes. Then follow the signs for Le Teil / Aubenas. In Le part - towards Aubenas, Villeneuve de Bg. - Before Villeneuve de Bg take the exit Mirabel. In Mirabel take the last left and immediately right again up the narrow serpentine road. After the second hairpin turn there is a path that leads up a ramp, follow it up to the gate. The exact meeting point can be arranged with our friend and property manager Nicolas.
By train to Montelimar. From there you can take buses to Villeneuve. We recommend renting a car!
Host informationWe are a family with 6 children having inherited the house from our parents. Your holiday home is just a part of a larger property. To preserve the house, which has been lovingly built from ruins spanning more than 40 years, we have decided to rent out our childhood and youth home. We hope that you and your friends and family will spend as many wonderful weeks there as we do.
