Holiday destination
San Vito dei Normanni:
• San Vito is the city of 'Rezza '. Stop watching the entrances of houses covered by 'Rezze', 'strange objects'. There is even the habit of housewives to stay inside their homes, behind the rezza , to see and hear what is happening outside, without being observed. In August we celebrate this event with the 'Rezzica two days of big party and they hide behind them actors that with their microphones are ready to ‘judge you’ theatrically. An improvised show live .
• 'Caves of San Biagio' rock settlements visited by appointment. The paintings on the walls are a series of paintings of the most interesting of Puglia inspired by Byzantine models. Christological scenes are represented.
• The castle 'Dentice Frasso' known for the square tower with battlements, loopholes and trapdoors. Film set of the latest film by Virna Lisa 'Latin Lover'.
• Guests must taste goods from ‘Il Mattarello’ for the production of orecchiette with fine flour local 'Senatore Cappelli' and for the production of the known 'panzerottini' of Puglia, fresh frying. Take a pack before leaving.
• At the center there is the Basilica 'St. Mary of Victories' the largest of the minor basilicas. Favorite stop to celebrate weddings. Here, the small square, numerous bars.

Clean and comfortable. A car is a must but we knew this.
the villa is very spacious and has everything you need and require for a break.
you will be given clear instructions on how to get to the villa.
Only downside is there is no sheet change in the 10 days, especially if you are travelling with kids.

Luana at Vacanze Puglia was very helpful and always contactable, as we arrived late she arranged a small shop so we could have an evening meal and breakfast the following day. Borgo Marianna is a lovely villa, in a very peaceful location. You do need a car as it is remote from the local town, San Vito dei Normanni. It is ideally placed to visit Ostuni and Locorocondo , local beaches and vineyards. This part of Italy is relatively unspoilt by mass touriism which is a great appeal. The only slight surprise with the area is the amount of litter on the A roads in certain areas. I can only assume this is due to the recycling policy which is impressive however, appears to have a negative impact on unwanted waste being discarded in what is a lovely rural area. That said we would definitely recommend and return.
