Golf: Golf is without a doubt the most popular sport in the Algarve, no wonder if you imagine the ideal climatic conditions and the indescribable beauty of the course design and its surroundings. Read here a selection of 4 excellent golf courses in your immediate vicinity, composed of a total of approx. 40 courses that the Algarve has to offer, more than half can be reached comfortably within 45 minutes by car. Quinta do Lago: 36 holes divided into Quinta Lago south course (today known as 'Quinta do Lago' course, formerly 'championship' course), par 72, 6488m and Quinta Lago north course (also known as Ria Formosa course, par 72, 6205m). Quinta do Lago course hosted the Portuguese Open seven times. The strategically placed bunkers, occasional water hazards and large, uneven greens are particularly suitable for long-range golfers. This scenic course is a fun experience for players of all levels. Vale do Lobo also offers two 18-hole courses, namely Ocean course and Royal course. As the name suggests, the ocean course has various holes right on the Atlantic, where white sand and deep blue water provide the wonderful background backdrop. There are also park-like holes running through the Vale do Lobo complex. The combination is a challenge regardless of what handicap you have. The Royal course is designed by Sir Henry Cotton.
