Castiglione d'Orcia is a small town in the province of Siena, in the center of the region known as Val d'Orcia, perched on a hill, in the northern part of the slopes of Mount Amiata. Val d'Orcia is a wide valley in the southern part of Tuscany, crossed by the river Orcia, on the border with Umbria. This area is characterized by landscapes so beautiful that they were recognized in 2004 as a UNESCO heritage, thanks to the natural features and wonderful centers of medieval origin.
Getting there
From Milan take A1 direction Rome, exit at Firenze Impruneta, take highway to Siena, exit at Siena Sud take SS2 direction Buonconvento- Rome, take the road for about 45 Km and then follow the direction for Castiglione d'Orcia.

Was für ein unbeschreiblich schönes Kleinod inmitten des UNESCO Welterbes Val de Orcia, d.h. hoch über dem Tal mit weitem Blick nach Pienza und Montepulciano und im Tal die berühmten Heilquellen. Im Haus findet man alles, was es braucht für einen zauberhaften Toskana-Urlaub. Ein uriges Haus, fein renoviert und modernisiert, ohne den Spirit zu verändern. Das Dorf, in welches sich das Haus mit 4 Terrassen anschmiegt, ist gleichsam ein Idyll. Man glaubt, man macht eine Zeitreise ins Mittelalter. Toll auch, dass man trotz autofreie Zone als Gast eine Sondergenehmigung bei Anreise erhält, um ins Dorf fahren zu dürfen. Sehr eng, aber es geht, wer sich das zutraut . Am Brunnen an der Linde gibt es ein Restaurant mit typisch toskanischer Küche. Nicht verpassen! Netter Vermieter, nette Dame vor Ort - 10 Punkte!
