Western Crete rural life continues at the same slow pace as it has for centuries. The West is the greenest and most mountainous area of Crete. Kissamos is a small quiet town with all ameneties. From here it is near to go to a lot of attractive spots like Balos, Falasarna, Elafonisi or the monastery of Chrisoskalitissa, which is built on a rock overlooking the sea.
Getting there
By car, taxi or bus from Chania (or Heraklion) on the national road to Kissamos. By ferry from the Peleponese (Kalamata or Gythio) to Kissamos.

We did spend a very nice week in Kissamos with our family. The villa is very modern and well equipped. The garden and swimming pool are great. The large outside dining area next to the swimming pool is very nice for an outdoor dinner / bbq with a large group.
Kissamos centre and seaside are on walking distance and there are multiple nice places for a drink or for dining.
Chania, with very nice old center and harbour is a 30 to 40 minutes drive. Also bigger beaches like Falasarna or Elafonissi are nice to go to. For hikers there are many trails all not so far away.
Our travel agent Birgitta was very friendly and helpful.

The house looks even better in real life than it already does in the pictures. We spent an amazing time in Kissamos. Our host, Mike, and our travel agent Brigitta were absolutely wonderful and the organisation from both sides was very good. We can not only recommend the house for families but also for a group of friends, such as we were. Walking time to the beach: 15 minutes, where you can find good restaurants with ecxellent staff. Chania is a 30 minutes ride from Kissamos where you can find a lot of activity opportunities such as Quad renting or boat cruises. The house was clean and offers every facility you need. From air conditioning to dishwasher and outdoor kitchen. Don't miss the opportunity to visit this amazing place.
