Holiday in a tiny house! That’s something completely different
Where can you do that? In the heart of the three state triangle of Salzburg, Bavaria and Tyrol. Something completely modern has arrived in the tranquil holiday town of Unken.
Between lush meadows and craggy mountains, your hosts Heidi, Leo and Chris have taken on a pioneering role for a new holiday concept. Better known from TV documentaries and building and living magazines, a “tiny house“ in the Salzburg Saalach Valley is probably somewhat unexpected. The trio built two low energy houses on the outskirts of their idyllic hotel premises. The houses all have a modern solid wood construction and are sustainable and modest. Brand new, very chic and yet perfectly integrated into the natural surroundings, you’ll be supplied with “green” energy and your own spring water.

A true natural paradise in summer
You must visit the unspoilt hiking area in the Unken Heutal Valley or the chalets serving food and drink in the Lofer alpine pastures. You’ll be served true regional delicacies along with a large portion of hospitality. The Heutal Valley is also a worthwhile excursion destination for mountain bikers and e-bikers. Leisurely hikes and tours to the summits start right outside your tiny doors. If you want to enjoy a bit more speed, you can get an adrenaline rush while canyoning or rafting on the wild Saalach.
There’s something for EVERYONE in winter
The motto when planning your holiday: “don’t make too many plans!” There are simply far too many nice things to discover. Enjoy fun on the slopes in both the small and lovely family ski region in the idyllic Heutal Valley and the Almenwelt Lofer ski region. The loveliest ski alp in Austria offers good value for money and is also an insider tip among locals. Take the free ski bus from Unken and in just 15 minutes you’ll be in the hip Tyrolean ski region of Steinplatte/Waidring.
Cross-country skiers, snow shoe hikers, touring ski fans and tobogganers love the Heutal Valley. It has so much natural beauty to offer and impresses with its very well-developed tour networks.
Back in the tiny house, you can relax in the hotel wellness area and make use of the sauna and infra-red cabin or enjoy a massage. Or order a delicious, mulled wine and enjoy it by the fire bowl on your terrace!
